What is Solar ATAP?

Understanding Malaysia's new Solar Accelerated Transition Action Programme

Solar ATAP (Solar Accelerated Transition Action Programme) is Malaysia's newest initiative to accelerate the adoption of rooftop solar systems across Peninsular Malaysia. Launched January 1, 2026, the programme allows TNB electricity consumers in Peninsula Malaysia to install solar photovoltaic (PV) panels on their properties to generate their own clean electricity.

How Solar ATAP Works

Four key features that make Solar ATAP work for you

Generate & Use Your Own Electricity

Install solar PV panels on your rooftop that convert sunlight into electricity. Use it immediately to power your home or business, reducing what you draw from TNB and lowering your monthly bills.

Get Credits for Excess Energy

When your panels generate more than you need, the excess flows to the grid. You receive bill credits - domestic consumers at the Energy Charge rate, non-domestic at the transparent Average SMP.

Larger System Sizes Allowed

Install systems up to 100% of your maximum demand - more than NEM's 75% limit. Non-domestic consumers can install up to 1MW, maximizing your solar investment potential.
